Oh hi there!

We’re Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselors specializing in holistic trauma-informed care for the kind folks of Charlotte and the North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas community at large.

Life’s hard, isn’t it? Most of us go through our days thinking we’re all alone, we’re the problem, or we need to be “fixed”. The truth is, there’s a lot more “right” with us than we give ourselves credit for.

Therapy is a messy, playful, and sacred journey to embark on to discover this truth for ourselves. Our role as psychotherapists and fellow humans is to help create a space for you to explore all parts of yourself and your story. While you'll surely run into places of heartbreak and grief, you might be surprised to find out there’s much more treasure within you than you could ever realize alone. Not to mention, once we start spending time in your story, you will find that you make so much sense. You will get to see how your nervous system created incredibly wise ways for you to stay safe and protected when you were younger and together we will work on getting those parts care so you can show up in ways that feel better for you today.

We’re here to hold a light to all that’s within you and be here every step of your journey to be fully and completely yourself. And gosh, do we consider it an honor to walk along side of you!

Here’s a glimpse of what we’ll work through together:

  • What healthy boundaries look like in your life

  • Treating your humanness with compassion instead of something to conquer

  • How to sit with uncomfortable emotions (so they don’t rule your life anymore)

  • Engaging in conflict instead of avoiding it in your relationships

  • A life beyond perfectionism where messiness and playfulness are embraced

  • Getting unstuck to start creating again

  • Exploring your relationship to failure and learning to experiment instead

  • Addressing the trauma stories and processing them with curiosity and care

  • Creating and maintaining healthy friendships in your life

  • Self care ideas and activities based in the uniqueness of your story

  • Embracing a slower pace and getting to live a life beyond constant burnout

  • Learning how to notice the different parts of yourself without moving into judgement and criticism

  • Having a healthy and kind relationship with your body and food

You don’t need to do the hard things alone. Allow yourself to be supported in your healing work.

2024 is weird.
Virtual Therapy
doesn’t have to be.

There’s a certain level of ease and security our clients have found by having therapy in the comfort of their own home. While we will always prefer getting to sit together in person, virtual therapy has proven to be just as effective and powerful.

With the anxiety-inducing, exhausting, and hella fatiguing years we’ve had, taking time to get therapeutic care is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. Telehealth is a safe and secure way to get the same level of trauma-informed care as you would if we were together in person.

What makes therapy at Fig different?

We welcome all parts of you.

Ever feel like there’s one part of you that that totally wants to change and another part that wants to stay exactly the same? We hold that as very human of you and help you make sense of all those different parts to help you feel more integrated and connected.

We focus on your needs.

Don’t know what your needs are? Or does the idea of even having needs make your stomach turn? Totally get that. We will help you to find out what needs you do have, why they’ve needed to be dismissed, and how to begin honoring them.

We embrace emotions.

If you’ve ever apologized for crying or you hate to cry, we want you to know you’re not alone. We help you do some healthy unlearning about those emotions and explore why they’re showing up and the wisdom they have to offer you in the present moment.

We center the relationship.

Therapy is a microcosm of your outside world. In essence, what’s showing up or getting in the way of your relationships outside of therapy will show up in the therapeutic relationship. This is great news because therapy is a safe and nonjudgemental place to explore those dynamics. We work hard to create space for you to give feedback, practice being assertive and talk about what is and isn’t working. Whether we meet virtually or in person, exploring what’s happening in the space between you and your therapist is some of the richest and most rewarding work of therapy.

We help you come back to your body.

Your body might just be the single greatest and most underrated tool you have to help you live a healthy and whole life. You’ll learn all about your nervous system and slowly discover how to be in your body instead of spending so much time trying to get out of it. Because of the impacts of trauma, your body usually gets stuck in patterns of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Using somatic based approaches, we help your body release trauma and stress so you can enjoy having a more compassionate and embodied relationship with yourself.

We guide you to discover more of yourself.

The world the world is better and richer place when you show up as fully and authentically you. And we also know for a lot of good reasons, that’s easier said than done. Our work centers around helping you have more of yourself so you can show up in ways that are aligned with who you truly are and what you truly want.

Say yes to care for your story, your emotions, and your body.

Healing and growth are possible.
